For 35+ years, we've known one thing: utility companies make mistakes.
And those mistakes cost owners, hospitals, universities, religious institutions and manufacturers billions — quietly, on invoices nobody reads carefully. We built UtiliSave® to fix that, completely and on a pure contingency basis.

Founded on one idea: utilities make mistakes, and someone should be continuously looking.
UtiliSave was founded in 1991 by Michael Steifman to help organizations find credits, refunds, and savings on their utility costs. From the beginning, the focus has been on detailed utility bill auditing and cost recovery for large users of gas, electricity, steam, and water and sewer services.
Since then, we have worked with clients across the United States to identify billing errors and overcharges, secure refunds, and reduce ongoing utility expenses — while helping them gain better control over an essential, often-overlooked part of their operating costs.

Already performed an audit in-house, or with another firm? Let us take a no-risk second look at those same accounts. Our contingency structure means we are not paid unless we produce savings — so there is nothing to lose by checking our work against theirs. These Second Look Audits have recovered tens of millions more.
To aggressively seek, develop, and implement innovative utility bill reduction opportunities for our clients through the effective use of technology and intellectual capital. See the five principles that guide how we work on our Mission page.
